Harvest Ed is agricultural education for global citizens. In 2025, HarvestEd Victoria offers a unique 1-day face-to-face program for students in Years 7–9 to be held on Friday 28th March from 10am-2pm at The University of Melbourne's Parkville Campus.

Join us for an exciting one-day in-person event at the University of Melbourne!
HarvestEd Victoria brings together students from across Victoria to explore the world of agriculture, sustainable food systems, and how innovation can help address global challenges like food waste.

Learning Outcomes
Connecting Communities
Hear firsthand from agricultural professionals, experts, and guests about current challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector. Students will collaborate to reflect on the insights and real-world problems worth tackling.
Seeding Change
Using design-thinking processes, students will work in teams to brainstorm innovative solutions to agriculture-related problems they’ve explored. Teams will develop initial prototypes of their solution-oriented ideas.
Harvesting Potential
Students will pitch their prototype ideas to their peers and a guest panel for valuable feedback and insights. This session encourages collaboration, learning, and further action to refine their concepts.
Program Structure for the Day
- Welcome & Keynote from James McLennan – Founder, Farm My School
- University of Melbourne Campus Tour
- Hackathon: What innovative approaches can transform food systems and agriculture to achieve Zero Hunger?
- Lunch: BYO lunch or purchase on campus
- Networking: Interact with guest experts and learn about the challenges they face in agriculture
- Idea Pitching: Students present their prototypes and receive feedback from peers and the guest panel.
- Wrap-up and Next Steps
