More opportunities for Sydney businesses going global

Sydney businesses will have a unique opportunity to gain a competitive global edge, by accessing the latest market insights and practical support to strengthen their links to Asian markets.

Asialink Business is partnering with the City of Sydney to run a series of workshops to help small to medium businesses enter new markets, understand and respond to opportunities in emerging growth sectors and drive future success in Asian economies.

“Big businesses find it much easier to connect with Asian markets than small and medium organisations, which is why the Asialink [Business] Insight Workshop Series is such a valuable resource,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore says.

The series is “ a practical tool” to support local organisations and “help small businesses punch above their weight,” the Lord Mayor says.

“It fills that gap in the market, engaging directly with smaller businesses.”

“This year’s workshops will focus on liveable and sustainable cities in Asia, capturing the Asian student market, becoming Asian tourist ready and a guide on pitching to Asian investors,” the Lord Mayor says.

A panel of experts will be on hand for the Asialink Business workshops, helping business owners break down the complexities of working with Asian countries.

The sessions will build on an initial series of four workshops delivered by Asialink Business earlier this year, which received highly positive support from diverse local business participants.

Asialink Business CEO Mukund Narayanamurti says:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with the City of Sydney.

“Sydney’s position as global city, a knowledge economy and a gateway to Asia presents great opportunities for its local businesses, but markets in the region are evolving quickly and competition is tough.

“The workshops will enable local companies to develop practical understanding of these complexities, along with specific skills and insights to dive-into emerging opportunities in sectors where Sydney has natural strengths.

“Whether it is getting your business ready for Asian tourists and students,  servicing Asia’s demand to create liveable cities, or winning-over Asian investors, these focused workshops will  give local businesses  a competitive edge,” Narayanamurti says.
