China remains one of Australia’s most consequential economic partners, with deep links across trade, investment and supply chains shaping the operating environment for many Australian organisations.

Engagement with China now carries strategic, governance and geopolitical implications that reach directly into the boardroom.

For directors and senior executives, the key question should not be whether to engage with China, but how to do so in a way that balances opportunity with risk in a complex and competitive environment.

Insight into China’s economic drivers, policy landscape, and cultural nuances is crucial for boards seeking to guide strategy, oversee risk and support effective stakeholder engagement.

About the program

The Engaging China for Directors program equips Australian directors and senior leaders with essential knowledge for risk-informed engagement with China.

Drawing on trusted perspectives on China’s economic and policy landscape and business environment, the program provides essential insights to help directors and senior executives navigate complexity, identify opportunity, and support informed decision-making in Australian boardrooms.

Through a series of webinars, in-person roundtables and engaging content, participants will build contemporary knowledge of China, engage with experts and peers, and strengthen their board capability.

Delivered by Asialink Business in partnership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors and supported by the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, the program provides trusted, current and practical insight for the boardroom.

Why This Series Matters Now

Directors are navigating an environment shaped by:

  • Heightened geopolitical and regulatory complexity

  • Shifting economic conditions and market signals

  • Increased scrutiny on governance, compliance and reputation

  • Changing policy settings affecting Australian engagement with China

Boards do not need to be China experts. They do need to understand the implications of China exposure for their organisation and be equipped to guide management with confidence.
